Leavenworth’s Tickseed (Coreopsis leavenworthii)

I am happy to report that I am starting my meadow! I am starting small, very small…but starting! I killed the grass in the back right corner. The area I am planting is only about 10 square feet. One of the two Florida native wildflowers I am using here is Leavenworth’s Tickseed (Coreopsis leavenworthii).

See the little flowers above Holdens head? This Coreopsis will reach about 2-3 feet. It will re-seed readly. It grows in sandy, well drained soil and needs sull sun. It is found predominately in Florida and will grow well in my sandhill like ecosystem.

I am planting tomorrow. More later…..
